What made you decide to try CrossFit?
I have done several types of fitness classes over the last 15 years, but nothing very consistently as I get bored very easily. The Couch to CrossFit promo I was seeing at the time was really appealing to me, it was something new and felt like I would not feel out of place and the hours worked for me.
What improvements have you made in the past year that you are most proud of?
I feel stronger than I ever felt in my adult life, and I feel like now I can do most of the workouts in it’s entirety in the time given. I am no hare – but I moved on from being a turtle 😉
If you could give yourself one piece of advice when you started CrossFit, what would it be?
Be patient
Do you have any advice for other people who are looking to try CrossFit?
Don’t be intimidated – no one but yourself cares about what you can or cannot do!
How has CrossFit changed your life/lifestyle?
Going to CrossFit and being able to do those workouts gave me a confidence in my own body capabilities, which I had given up on and this has been a priceless gift to myself. I have 2 boys and I strongly believe in being a strong role model for them. I hope that when they get to make their own choices about their well-being they will prioritize their fitness and include an activity they enjoy in their life.
Tell us about any other activities you love to do outside of the gym?
I have gone one a few cycling, cycling and backpacking adventures these last few months that I did not know I could physically do. And I have lots more on my bucket list 😉
If you created a WOD named after you….what movements would it consist of?
Run, Box Jumps, Deadlifts, Split Jerk,
What is one of your goals for your next year of CrossFit?
Mend my shoulder so I can life again!! Be more consistent with my nutrition.
Anything you would like to add?
I have found a community at CrossFit that I thoroughly enjoy. At CrossFit Banff the only people judging you is yourself ☺
Marie-Eve, you bring joy to every class that you attend and your personality and energy are infectious. You should be so proud of your consistent attendance, we have loved watching your progress in the gym and hearing about your adventures during the summer. Keep up the awesome work!
